There's got to be some kind of network that the sf&f community can manufacture in order to bring UK, or European, signings to fans in the States, and vice versa. Would love to get Tchaikovsky's.
Ultimately it's down to how well the book/author does in a country - no point the publisher paying the author to fly over if no one's going to turn up to the signing.
There's a chance you might see Tchaikovsky in the US - with Pyr picking up his Apt series, if it does really well then he may put in an appearance at some point.
