US artwork for Tchaikovsky's 'Blood of the Mantis'

Really quite liking what Pyr are doing with the covers for Adrian Tchaikovsky's Shadows of the Apt series. Here's the latest, for Blood of the Mantis, from the Pyr blog.

Yay or nay? And while we're on the subject...better or worse than the UK version (below)?

While the UK version looks better when you see it first hand rather than on a screen, I'm thinking that I actually like the US cover more...

I think I like the US version more, too, though I think the title could've been done a bit better.

Interesting you should mention the title, because for some reason I like the style/font they've used. It's almost more like an SF font than a fantasy one, which I find quite appealing...

I liked the second novel of this series but I stopped reading the third novel after 100 pages. There is glaring illogical action that happened as they planned to hunt the artifact that I couldn't get my self to continue reading.

This is a close one for me, I like the action that's going on in the US version, but the main guy I'm not a fan of. Obviously I've not yet read this series, so maybe he's perfect.

I think I'll go with the UK as usual.

Ebleyes - Yeah, I wasn't that enamoured with the third book, though I liked it enough (and had sufficient interest in the series) to keep reading.

Seak - I think the main figure is a pretty good representation of the character, as is the UK one. And do try the series!

I'm liking them both, I've read it and agree it's not as good as the first two but I am still enjoying it a lot.

Very rare that US covers appeal to me but Pyr is kicking arse with these.

James, I guess the title looks a bit SF, but it really reminds me of Nazi SS lettering. Not too much, but a bit. This was a tough comparison between the two versions, though.
