OMG HUGE MONSTAR

These days many publishers seem quite keen to produce more 'mature' (some would say mainstream) covers for fantasy novels, so it's always nice to see the odd cover that just screams OMG TEH FANTASY GOODNESS. Like this one, which I think is extremely cool.

I've not read any of Thompson's stuff myself, and judging by the mixed reviews I don't think that'll change any time soon. The covers for his books are nice though.

Covers like this actually do want to make me read a book. Bad covers don't make a good first impression.

Totally agree. Though you may want to read some reviews before picking this series up...

Hey, having accumulated a queue of YOUR recommendations I think it'll be quite awhile yet before I have to start picking up new books based solely on their cover art. No worries there, believe me.

BTW, The Black Company needs way more praise. For as complicated as everything is, Cook really makes the information easy to digest.
